اکسل هونت و اخلاق به‌رسمیت‌شناسی: موانع و امکانات

چکیده

اندیشه اخلاقی و سیاسی اکسل هونت، فیلسوف آلمانی و برجسته نسل سوم فرانکفورت، از ابتدای انتشار کتاب شناخته‌شده او، جدال برای به‌رسمیت‌شناسی، توجه بسیاری به خود جلب کرد. هونت در آثار خود در تلاش بوده است صورت‌بندی نوینی از رابطه میان من، دیگری و ما ارائه دهد که با دیگرپذیری، من و دیگری برای تشکیل یک ما، به یکدیگر فروکاسته نشوند و با حفظ هویت، ویژگی‌ها و افق ارزشی منحصربه‌فرد خود، یک رابطه و «ما» صلح‌آمیز تشکیل دهند. در همین راستا، هونت مدل سه سطحی به‌رسمیت‌شناسی خود را برای درک بهتر رابطه اجتماعی افراد با یکدیگر و با خود ارائه داده است. بااین‌وجود، این دیدگاه از اخلاق به‌رسمیت‌شناسی در سال‌های اخیر از سوی منتقدینی چون فریزر و پنسکی با این نقد مواجه بوده است که نه‌تنها قادر نیست افراد را در افق‌های ارزشی خود آن‌ها به رسمیت بشناسد، بلکه آن‌ها را در افق ارزشی مسلط جامعه منحل می‌کند. این مقاله در تلاش است با بررسی نقد ریشه‌ای و رادیکال منتقدان و پاسخ‌های هونت، دریابد این نظریه تا چه میزان توان تاب‌آوری در برابر این انتقادات را دارد و آیا پاسخ‌های ارائه شده توسط هونت توانسته‌اند اخلاق به‌رسمیت‌شناسی را از اتهام نااخلاقی بودن و دامن‌زدن به سلطه برهانند یا خیر. در نهایت، چنین نتیجه‌گیری می‌شود که اخلاق به‌رسمیت‌شناسی خود موضوعی است میان‌فرهنگی، بنابراین نه هونت و نه منتقدان او به‌تمامی بر حق هستند، چراکه مفهومی را که به‌خودی‌خود امری میان‌فرهنگی است تنها با مشارکت یک فرهنگ یعنی فرهنگ غربی مورد بررسی قرار می‌دهند.

چکیده [English]

 The ethical and political thinking of Axel Honneth—German philosopher and leading scholar in the third generation of Frankfurt School Critical Theorists—has garnered considerable attention since his seminal Struggle for Recognition. In his writings, Honneth seeks to demonstrate a new outlook for the relationship between the I, the Other, and We: a scheme in which the I and the Other would not be that of assimilation—but a peaceful We, while at the same time preserving their different value systems and identities. This was done by way of a three-tiered model of mutual recognition for understanding societal relations. On the other hand, Honneth’s theory has been criticized by critics such as Fraser and Pensky as Eurocentric, the implied normative superiority of which renders Honneth’s ethical theory prone to the exclusion of the “other” which he so adamantly seeks to affirm. This paper examines the extent to which
Honneth’s response to such critiques liberates his theory from its purported exclusionary and unethical orientation. Neither side of the debate, however, seems to put forth a final formulation of the relationship between the I and the We. In this vein, this research proposes a concretized account of recognition, necessitating, in turn, an intercultural
and dialogical approach to this theory.
